They do make some darned good syrup, so to give them love and pay homage to maple-sugaring season, we’ll give you the other top syrup fest spots in the country.

· Vermont Maple Festival
No state is more synonymous with sweet, sweet syrup than Vermont. More than 50,000 attend the fest each year to nibble on treats like maple bread, maple jelly and maple ginger snaps; go on sugarhouse tours; see a parade; and chow down on maple-syrup-soaked hotcakes and maple sausages at the big pancake breakfast. Check it out April 15 to 17.

· Vermontville Maple Syrup Festival
Michigan also produces quite a bit of syrup, and the first fest in the state to honor the gooey stuff is held in Vermontville, about 35 miles west of Lansing. The town will throw its 71st annual festival April 29 to May 1. It will feature rides, crafts and, of course, a pancake derby. But the popular maple syrup cotton candy may be reason enough to go.
